Amid the ongoing war between Russia and the Ukraine, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine a few weeks ago, Sony Interactive Entertainment is halting all software and hardware shipments in Russia.
Sony Interactive Entertainment manages the popular Playstation console line.
“Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) joins the global community in calling for peace in Ukraine,” SIE spokesperson Joe Taraborrelli said in a statement, according to The Verge. “We have suspended all software and hardware shipments, the launch of Gran Turismo 7, and operations of the PlayStation Store in Russia.”
Sony has also donated $2 million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the NGO Save the Children to support those affected by the invasion.
Bungie, who was recently acquired by Sony, and is the studio behind the popular game Destiny 2, made a similar announcement related to their game.
Bungie stands with the people of Ukraine and everyone impacted by the ongoing war.
